I appreciate people who take the time to provide references for the claims they make when writing content to put online, but in this day an age when we are all online, I really question the necessity of it for a site like this. You are not going to find many, if any, references on this site because I just don’t feel like taking the time to do it. Most of what I write for this site is pretty spontaneous and a lot of it is my opinion. What I write is what I really believe and I do not intentionally lie or distort the truth. I will often take the time to look something up while I am writing so that I can present facts and figures that are true and accurate to the best of my knowledge, but I am not going to bother including references.

There’s one other reason I do not bother to include references and that is because any reference I provide would most likely lead to a source that is disputed by yet another source! How many times have you researched something online only to find completely conflicting information that’s found on two or more trusted sources? No matter what source I cite, it is extraordinarily likely that you can find another source that disputes my reference and may be more in line with what you personally believe.

People, myself included, tend to trust sources that agree with their own views and opinions. For example, as someone who is a strong supporter of our Second Amendment, I could reference a source that agrees with my belief that firearms are used to save far many more lives every year in the U.S. than are used to injure or kill people unlawfully. Gun control advocates would undoubtedly be able to find another source claiming the opposite. It becomes a case if the dueling experts and people are going to believe what they want to believe and what better matches their own opinion.

Another reason I don’t bother to include references is that we are living in the age of the internet and if you are reading the articles on this website, you almost certainly have access to search engine sites like Bing, Google, DuckDuckGo and a host of other search engines that will be capable of providing you with more information than you could probably read in a lifetime if you care to research a particular subject. If you do not know how to use a search engine, I strongly suggest you learn. It’s quite easy to do. You certainly don’t have to believe anything I write and you are free to go research anything you want and reach your on conclusions and I strongly encourage that.
